We put the business through this very stringent and thorough process voluntarily for the first time in 2013, because we wanted to see how we could improve the workplace for our staff. Turns out we’re pretty great already; we placed 13th nationally in the small business category, we were the fourth-highest recruitment agency across the UK, and the highest-ranking business of any size in Staffordshire.
Recruitment agencies don’t have to be accredited with the Recruitment Employment Confederation, but we wanted to be; the REC is synonymous with best practise and quality. The audit goes way beyond just compliance, requiring agencies to demonstrate that they operate best practice in areas such as customer service, staff development, diversity and client management. Being audited by the REC includes regular on-site visits, where our documentation is checked and our processes and systems are thoroughly inspected.
We choose to be evaluated by Investors In People every three years, and have achieved IIP Gold status in every evaluation since 2008.
The IIP process compares a list of stringent best practise criteria with evidence provided by the business to prove that it operates in accordance with these standards. If enough criteria are met, IIP awards the business Bronze status. Businesses that excel can be awarded Silver status, or, in exceptional circumstances, Gold status.
