Tim J Burns MREC
Tim unknowingly commenced his career in recruitment 22 years ago whilst employed as National Operations Manager for a Systems Building company. Much of his time in this – his first management role, was spent on human capital infrastructure. In 1993 Tim embarked on his first independent business venture as 1 of 3 founder Directors of a National construction business, again focusing much of his time on strategic staffing. At the time the business was sold in a competitor acquisition he had recruited in excess of 130 of it's staff.
In 1997 Tim took a career break in Auckland NZ, and soon got tired of not being busy. He sought a work Visa and as a result of meetings with several Australasian recruiters joined Elite Recruitment as a Business Development Director. Tim partnered recruitment legend Rob Jackson-Potter in fulfilling large staffing contracts, including requirements for Sydney 2000 Olympics, rapidly helping grow the business.
Returning home in 2001Tim took on the role of Divisional Director for RHI in Birmingham. In the difficult post- 9/11 market Tim succeeded in achieving top-5 ranking in RHI's global recognition program in Nevada US. This led to a promotion to his own branch, where he doubled turnover in 14 mths and progressed to Permanent Services Manager for the Birmingham region.
Well advanced in a successful career in the recruitment sector, Tim is still as passionate about recruitment as the day he started. In 2006 he established GPRS recruitment initially to build infrastructure for a Midlands construction company experiencing rapid expansion. Since then Tim has assumed responsibility for the growth of the business, which now employs a team of professional and highly experienced recruiters. The business is currently undergoing Investors In People accreditation, and has a medium term goal of becoming the regions leading permanent recruitment specialists.
In 2006 following 10 yrs as a professional recruiter Tim achieved MREC status. Tim has a BBA honors degree and an MS diploma from the University of Central England. On a personal note he has 3 children, and leads an active social life including charitable work and event organisation. Tim places high value on integrity, honesty, and long-term relationship building. His vision is to build a reputable business that attracts the best recruitment talent by offering flexibility, a mature approach, and exceptional remuneration with equity in the specialist permanent market.
Tim states "I have met many excellent intuitive recruitment professionals over time, who have sadly become entrenched in cultures where the view is that the last person to leave at night is the hardest worker. I simply don't buy this. If you work smart you can make great money helping people better themselves and make time to enjoy the benefits by achieving a sensible work-life balance".
