Their engineering capabilities include the design, development and manufacture, integration and supply of specialist trailers, transportable systems and carrier platforms from lightweight applications through to maximum weight special types. The complete range of ruggedised ancillary equipment for theatre operations includes high performance air-conditioning units, solar shields, environmental protection systems and a range of high free volume filtration packages.
Operating from a 2.5-acre site, of which 30,000 sq. ft. is enclosed and includes modern fully equipped manufacturing and advanced CAD engineering capabilities and as a result is fully accredited to TUV & ISO 9001.
To ensure the smooth running of projects and programmes a newly created position of Electrical Systems Engineer within the R&D Engineering department has been created. With a dotted line of report to the Principle Engineer; the successful candidate will take responsibility for Electrical system requirements elicitation, system design, integration, verification, validation, qualification and acceptance. Within the overall system, the successful candidate should expect to be including Power Systems/Gensets, PLCs, HMIs, etc, into the design of the solution.
The successful candidate will work as a member of the design and development team specifying and implementing system level solutions in accordance with programme requirements and timescales
Typical tasks will encompass work related to each individual project where you are asked to create data packs for the Electrical System design. The data packs will include all the wiring details for all the equipment and ancillaries for the platform, and have details that define the build standard for all the key elements that encompass the system. You will then move onto the system integration phase where the customer and system requirements need to be verified by defining tests, cross referencing these against requirements, and conducting the tests. You will then be involved with the system integration on the platform which may mean you would work at a customer site for short periods of time.
Suitable candidates will have demonstrated experience in designing and delivering Electrical Power Systems within the Off-Highway, Commercial, Military or Construction type vehicles sector, however, candidates from the Aerospace and Automotive sectors will be given due consideration.
You will hold a formal Electrical/Systems Engineering qualification (HND/Degree) and have at least 5 years industry experience. Excellent communication skills and be proficient in the use of 2D CAD & MS Office are all essential as is the exposure of managing concurrent Projects involving multi-discipline team involvement.
