Chris Errington FIRP CertRP

Associate Director

As with many whose destiny lies within professional recruitment, Chris first happened upon the profession whilst bolstering his lowly student income. Nightshifts at a logistics hub kept Chris from paying for his fish & chips with a cheque (as the students in the queue do) between terms back then. Recruiting those who submit timesheets pays better than submitting them yourself did not go unnoticed to Chris either and like a moth to a flame he threw caution to the wind and the journey commenced - another life-long recruiter was born.

Armed with little knowledge, Chris secured a role as a Trainee Technical Consultant with a leading player in the ‘Contract Design’ Engineering sector. Helping Mid to Senior level technical professionals, he worked tirelessly with businesses spanning such notable household names (in some households) as Bentley, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, and McLaren. Leaving his contemporaries studying away for their HNDs and Degrees.

After almost a year and frustrated with having become ‘desk-bound’, feeling his sales skills would be better utilised in a client-facing environment he secured a Business Development role with a leading Regional Mechanical Handling Solutions provider. Here Chris secured the largest service contract in his territory, greatly augmenting profits through sales of new and reconditioned equipment along the way.

A further 2 years of life behind a windscreen lead Chris to then develop a fresh opportunity with a regional player in the ‘Blue-collar’ Engineering recruitment sector. Further developments presented an opportunity to make his mark driving the Skilled and Technical sector within a City Centre based branch. As the saying goes ‘Form is temporary - Class is permanent’ so the move to ‘Professional Permanent’ Engineering & Manufacturing Recruitment saw Chris find his feet for sure at the dawn of the new millennium.

Time at the rock-face since has afforded Chris significant exposure to many Specialist Sectors and Professions within the Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain arena, completing numerous assignments helping his clients strengthen their teams with some excellent personnel acquisitions. Some might say that having such broad recruitment expertise is potentially a disadvantage, a ‘Jack of all, master of none’. With well over a decade of experience, Chris is a far cry from the ‘white-socks & gelled-hair brigade’ for one still so comparatively young and we (and no doubt his Clients) would beg to differ. In the short time he’s been with GPRS, Chris has certainly proved his expertise and we like to think of him as more of a ‘Jack of all, master of many’.

Chris joined the team at GPRS in September 2010 with much to offer our external partners… Client and Candidate alike. Chris’s core values sit well with those our business upholds: Integrity; Professionalism; Passion; Flair; Drive; The quest for excellence; Commercial Acumen; Value on his time – they’re all alive & kicking. We may have narrowly ‘missed-out’ on Chris previously in our attempts to bring him into our team, as his former employers made cutbacks and withdrew to the perceived safety of the major cities. Now 3 years on we trust Chris has found a place his career will flourish, to the benefit of those who place their trust in him where imminent career moves are concerned.

On a personal note Chris is family man and married to Clare (a ‘Sister’ at one of the Region’s largest Neo-Natal units) with 2 young children, Rory and Esmé. When he’s not chasing round after his family he can be found pedalling over the trails on Cannock Chase on his mountain bike, honing his culinary skills with anything that involves chilli or toying with paparazzi-style digital photography. During the warmer months he’s into camping by the sea, usually heading to North Cornwall where he likes to try to perfect his surfing skills (without much success from what we’ve heard) and during the winter months (where possible) he tries to get to the ‘proper’ mountains to satisfy his love of skiing and hurtling down mountains.
